When girls wrestling hit the state level in 1998, not everyone was happy about it.

The Honolulu Star-Bulletin took more than a few letters to the editor denouncing the sport, and the HHSAA actually rejected the Hawaii Athletic Directors Association’s recommendation to officially adopt the sport. The organization finally relented, and the rest is history.

Until then, use this any way you wish. Team moms can put legendary names on the wrestling room wall, just input your school name in the search box. Check on your coaches, where did they place? Try to determine Molokai’s all-time team. Who is the only Nanakuli girl to lose in a state final, and who beat her? Who is Kalani’s only four-time state placer?

All of the answers are here.

Some first names and state placers are missing, and I am sure more than a few names are spelled wrong, feel free to correct them in the comments. Special thanks to Natalie Iwamoto at the HHSAA for inputting the early years, which are the hardest since they are written in script.
