Moanalua, Kamehameha-Maui and Kamehameha-Hawaii won the various divisions in the HHSAA esports championships Saturday.
Moanalua defeated Punahou 2-0 in League of Legends, and Kamehameha-Maui topped Maui 4-2 in Rocket League. In the Smite championship final, Kamehameha-Hawaii defeated Farrington 2-1.
The event was held in-person at the HPU Esports Arena at Aloha Tower Marketplace. It was the culmination of Season One of HHSAA esports, after regular-season matches were held remotely in the fall of 2019. Season Zero, a trial season, was held in the spring of 2019.
Moanalua’s winning team (also known as Prestige), was made up of Chris Jung, Dayven Akamine-Rabaino, Enson Miyakado, Adithep Warakanbancha, DiAeris McRaven, Colby Tomita, Braydon Nagasako and Joshua Villanueva.
Kamehameha-Maui’s championship team (also known as KSM White) members were Jayden Walker, Laakea Golis, Brenden Hanada, Jonah Walker and Isaiah Auweloa.
Kamehameha-Hawaii’s championship team (also known as Lono Blue) members were Dylan Rosehill, Kaleb-Joshua Mahoe, Kamakalehua Yoshida, Gabrielle Faagata, Rion Chong, Chadwick Guerrero and Elijah Scovel.
Natalie Iwamoto of the HHSAA confirmed Wednesday that there will be a spring 2020 season.
