Waiakea’s Trevor Hirata shot a 37 on the back nine at Kohanaiki Golf and Ocean Club to win the BIIF boys individual title.
Hirata finished with a 76 to beat teammate Shon Katahira by two strokes. Kalai Pomroy of Kamehameha-Hawaii was third with a 79.
Waiakea easily won the team title with 339 strokes to Kamehameha-Hawaii’s 356.
Next up is the state tournament, which will be held May 7-8 at Waikoloa.
Kaley Saludares of Waiakea won the gold medal in the girls tournament, shooting a 79 to beat teammate Anne Nakamoto by three strokes. The Warriors took that team title as well, with 245 strokes to Kamehameha-Hawaii’s 320.
The girls state tournament is May 4-5 at Waikoloa.
