Polynesian Bowl rosters set

Polynesian Bowl week kicked off Monday with the arrival of players and the draft party at the Sheraton Princess Kaiulani.

The rosters for Team Makai, coached by Terry Donahue, and Team Mauka, coached by Dick Vermeil, were set.

Cleveland Browns defensive tackle Danny Shelton is the honorary captain for Team Makai while San Francisco 49ers defensive lineman DeForest Buckner, a Punahou alumnus, holds the same honor for the Mauka squad.

A total of 98 players received all of their Polynesian Bowl gear today, including 30 from Hawaii high schools.

The game will take place Saturday at 6 p.m. at Aloha Stadium. Central Florida quarterback McKenzie Milton, Tennessee Titans quarterback Marcus Mariota and Pittsburgh Steelers receiver Juju Smith-Schuster are all expected to attend.

It’ll be nice if they included some players from American Samoa. They have talented players there that can compete at the same level with these kids. It’ll be a good exposure for them too. Am. Samoan produced some talented players that currently playing in the NFL and also in the past. The more talents the merrier for our Polynesian people. Good luck to both teams. God bless and play with pride.

Lezo, I understand what you are saying but why would anyone want to go to Hawaii? All they do is lose and all Rolovich cares about is how he is perceived to the media. Hawaii football is a terrible program and the athletic Dept is going downhill as a whole. They really need to do something. Facilities are terrible and they always wonder why nobody wants to go to football games.
