The Punahou-Kamehameha football rivalry has had more games than any two teams in the nation, and they get after it again tonight.

The Buffanblu head into tonight with an eight-game winning streak in the series, their longest. Kamehameha reeled off 13 games in a row between 1997 and 2003.

Kamehameha has scored 2,831 points in the series and Punahou has tallied 2,555.

Here is the recap of that first meeting, before the ILH began in 1909 and four years before they started wearing helmets. It was a different game back then.

More importantly, Punahou leads the rivalry 91-89 with six ties.

Kamehameha enjoyed the biggest blowout in the series, winning 64-0 in 1944, the only time they met that season. Punahou’s biggest blowout came last year when it trounced the Warriors 56-14.

Punahou has the edge in close games in the series, going 16-9-6 in contests decided by three points or fewer. One interesting thing such a long series can show us is the growth of offense over the past century. The blue line is the total number of points scored in each game starting with 1903 on the left and moving on to last year on the right.
