(3:26) Saint Louis ball on its 16. de Laura scrambles for 9. Ka’ohu Kamakawiwo’ole with a 2-yard run to move the chains and then Tumpap for 7 and add 15 for the face-mask penalty. Silva with his seventh reception for 7 yards. Mason Taliulu with a 4-yard run to move the chains. Crusaders running it for the first time consistently on the drive and having success. End 3.

(5:47) Aquinas ball on the 31. Three runs and a first down to the 43. Raiders call a pass and Louis jumps it and has the pick but it’s dropped. Louis had a shot at a pick-6. Great break on the ball. Turner misses an open player on third down and Aquinas punts. NO. It’s a fake and executed perfectly for 23 yards. The upback took the snap and threw it for 23 yards. Jaedon Henry 11-yard TD run. 35-19, 3:32, Q3.

(6:03) Saint Louis ball on its 27 and de Laura is back on the field. de Laura flushed out and tries to throw a deep ball and it’s picked.

(8:36) Aquinas ball. Raiders with three runs into Crusaders territory and now another injured Saint Louis player is down. De Laura meanwhile throwing on the Saint Louis sideline. Injury I think was to his left shoulder, not his throwing shoulder. Timeout. Tadio the injured player. Raiders really controlling this drive with the running game. Hankerson breaks off a 26-yard run to the 13. Aquinas wearing down the Crusaders. Dixon carrying Crusaders to the 3. Hankerson 3-yard TD run. Touchdown Aquinas. 28-19, 6:11, Q3.

(9:25) Saint Louis starts on its 40 after a bad punt. Two incomplete passes and then a short completion on third down and de Laura is down. He took a shot and is down. Holding his shoulder. Crusaders punt. Bigger concern is on the health of de Laura however.

Saint Louis ball on its 39. Looks like a late flag is down. Unsportsmanlike conduct on Aquinas. Crusaders will start in Raiders territory at the 46. Check that. Call goes against Saint Louis. They punt again.

(11:53) Raiders ball on their 33. Hankerson with nothing on his first carry as Herbig holds the outside position and brings him down. Dude is balling out. Sophomore Dennis Tadio comes flying in for a TFL. Loss of 3. Third-and-13. Anthony Sagapolutele with a great spin move to flush Turner out and Tadio with the tackle on the run for a loss of 6. Three-and-out. Impressive by the Crusaders defense.

Aquinas will get the ball first.

(1:34) Aquinas ball on the Saint Louis 49 after a good kick return. A first-down completion is called back by a hold. Aquinas going to let the clock tick as it’s third-and-12. Herbig forces an incomplete pass and is called for roughing the passer. Another bad Saint Louis penalty results in an Aquinas first down. Ball down to the 25 but a hold wipes out a 10-yard pass to the 15. Timeout Aquinas with nine seconds to go and the ball at the Crusaders 42. Aquinas tries a double pass but it’s incomplete. Saint Louis was ready for the trick play. Last play. Timeout first. Hail Mary is CAUGHT by Rosemy but he comes down out of bounds. Wow. Halftime.

(2:41) Saint Louis ball on the 35. Crusaders go quick and de Laura hits Makena Ramos-Kamaka for 21 yards after an Aquinas face-mask penalty and then de Laura with the 22-yard TD run. Saint Louis answers quick. Timeout as it considers going for 2. Saint Louis goes for it but the reverse to Wilson does nowhere. 21-19, 1:43, Q2.

(6:16) Aquinas ball on its 43. Third-and-1 at the Crusaders 48. Jaedon Henry picks up 9 and a first down. Aquinas trying to pound away with the run game. After a Henry run of 13 for a first down, Louis, playing for Jordan Botelho, gets a TFL. Aquinas drops a pitch backward for a loss of 5. Third-and-16 as Iona Purcell is down on the play for Saint Louis. Purcell has to be carried off by two teammates. Does not look good. Saint Louis drawn offsides for 5 yards. Third-and-11 at the 24. Pass to the end zone and DB Brian Cox makes a great play but a flag comes out. Looks like maybe Latu hit a defenseless player. Not sure. Ball moves to the 12. Travis Dixon into the end zone for a 12-yard TD. 21-13, 2:41, Q2.

(8:34) Crusaders ball on their 20. De Laura starts 3-for-3 on the drive with a beautiful touch ball to Nishigaya for 17 yards to cross midfield. Saint Louis tries its first run to a RB, Kainalu Tumpap, for no gain. Third-and-10. de Laura somehow hits Silva for 12 yards. Threads the needed between three defenders. First down at the 37. Personal foul on Saint Louis. Big penalties killing the Crusaders. But the pass to Wilson did count for 10 yards. Jaden McBurrows ends the Saint Louis drive with an INT. Don’t think de Laura ever saw him.

(9:52) Short punt and Aquinas has it at the Saint Louis 41. Raiders run it twice for 6 yards and it’s third-and-4. Aquinas bailed out by a pass interference by Harvey Welch. Didn’t look like it would have been complete. Ball moves to the 20 instead. Rosemy with the 19-yard TD pass from Turner on the slant. 14-13, 8:35, Q2.

(11:48) Crusaders pinned back on their 4. Miscommunication between de Laura and Wilson or else that might have gone for huge yards. de Laura sacked and it’s third down from the 2. de Laura has all day and hits Nishigaya who breaks the one tackle he needed and gets the first down at the 15. Needed 12 yards, got 13. Flag waived off on defensive PI. Ball looked like it was uncatchable. Third-and-10. Saint Louis timeout. Three straight incomplete passes and Saint Louis will punt.

Second quarter starts with Aquinas fourth-and-16 at the 37 of Saint Louis. Punt.

(10:31) Raiders ball on their 25. A 5-yard run is negated by a 15-yard penalty on Aquinas. Third-and-14 and Ethan Corbin hauls in a 19-yard pass. First down and Turner scrambles and takes just a brutal late hit by Mason Tufaga. Way late. Easy 15-yard penalty. That was really bad by Tufaga. Third-and-10 now after Turner’s first incomplete pass. Turner falls to the ground after a 4-yard scramble. Fourth-and-6. Turner goes down for a loss of 8. Nick Herbig forces Turner to scramble and go down. Turnover on downs.

(11:36) Crusaders ball on their 33. De Laura’s first pass is complete to Isaac Silva for 15 yards. Drop by Koali Nishigaya who was open over the middle. de Laura mishandles the snap and then is sacked by Riyad Wilmot. Punt.

    Too much personal fouls.

  3. Choloropicrin December 21, 2019 5:47 pm

It’s been 20 years? Last time was the strippers and beers?

  4. MiliLouis December 21, 2019 5:56 pm

#15 played dirty with cheap late shots during the season and I see he’s still doing it in this game. Plus he got away with one in the 1st qtr.

I hope his play won’t label Hawaii kids as “dirty” players…..

  5. M. Heffernan December 21, 2019 5:57 pm

I’m RRFL but cheering for St. Louis to pull this off. Sounds like the refs been walking Aquinas to the endzone.

  6. Vegas reporter December 21, 2019 6:20 pm

I’m at the game on the Aquinas sideline. The coaches are yelling that’s how they play to their players when they were getting talked. STL players playing angry

  7. HVAGD1 December 21, 2019 6:24 pm

Latu, #15, not playing smart. He hurts his team. Like that all year. Can get away with that playing with 32 point lead, but not with team like they facing tonight.

  8. Choloropicrin December 21, 2019 6:48 pm

They’re attacking we’re Bothello should be.

  9. ItIsWhatItIs December 21, 2019 7:02 pm

STL all out of backers. 2 starters out then both underclassmen got hurt. Good coaching by ST Thomas!!
Penalties not helping the Crusaders either.

  10. Truthhurts December 21, 2019 7:13 pm

To all those that’s say recruiting doesn’t matter this is an example of what happens when you play another team that also recruits and has the same open enrollment rules that you have and they say this is one of the best teams St Louis has ever had …. stay in Hawaii St Louis …..beat up on public schools….. now we know why you guys travel every 20 years

  11. Hovah808 December 21, 2019 7:18 pm

    Truthhurts… stfu

  12. Real talk December 21, 2019 7:19 pm

@truthhurts you clearly don’t watch football. Injuries is what played a big difference in this game plus JB not making the trip also hurt. You’re a complete idiot to not see the bigger picture in all of this. This is great recognition for the state of Hawaii.

  13. Robocop December 21, 2019 7:21 pm

lol this guy doesn’t understand that mainland teams have a waaaaaaaaay bigger pool of players to pull from. This St Thomas team is good. They skilled AND big. But I understand, people like you probably been waiting a long time to talk trash on The Crusaders. St Louis will continue to enjoy success next year and you will continue to be salt next year.

  14. Coach A December 21, 2019 7:26 pm

Next Man Up! 100+ man squad.

  15. Hovah808 December 21, 2019 7:28 pm

How many next man up do you need? Relax “coach”

  16. Coach A December 21, 2019 7:50 pm

The TV talk was should St.Thomas be now ranked over St.John Bosco or Mater Dei? Ahhh, no. Just because they played St.Louis, who was undefeated in Honolulu? Even a BG win in Honolulu means nothing because BG lost States to Liberty (public) and finished 34th in USA today

  17. MiliLouis December 21, 2019 7:53 pm

Botelho wouldn’t have made a big impact in this game. The RT #74 is solid player and would have handled Botelho. #74 got recruited by LSU.

StL just ran into a better team tonite.

StL had a good season and did their best.
Now go out and party like the last trip….lol

  18. For Real December 21, 2019 7:56 pm

How does the humble pie taste??

If was ANY other team from 808 we would support BUT NOT!!!

    LMAO

  19. 808rep December 21, 2019 7:56 pm

Good Game Crusaders!!! STA made more plays to get the win. Stl can compete with any school in the nation.

  20. OG baller December 21, 2019 7:56 pm

You guys are just sad always hating. Just be proud that a Hawaii team played very well against a national power from arguably the best state for High school football. St. Thomas has an argument for the high school national championship now. Good game and defensive scheme by them. Proud of the local boys playing hard up there.

  21. ILH December 21, 2019 7:57 pm

SAINT LOUIS TILL HAS THE WINNING STREAK IN HAWAII, TOOK A VERY GOOD MAINLAND TEAM TO BEAT SAINT LOUIS, NO SHAME SAINT LOUIS, WE STILL GOT THE STATE CHAMPIONSHIP FROM THE LAST 4 YARS. CONGRATULATIONS SAINT THOMAS AQUINAS.

  22. Coach A December 21, 2019 8:03 pm

All in all good game. Time for STL parents to max out on Mega Bucks. Man that #15 and his penalties. Geez.

  23. 808rep December 21, 2019 8:04 pm

    MiliLouis

Botelho would’ve made a difference!! #52 played well though.

  24. Block Life December 21, 2019 8:28 pm

St. Louis definitely can compete and if played a little more disciplined, they actually had a chance. They played tough and didn’t back down. STA is a great team that St. Louis kept up with. STA shut out over half their schedule and Crusaders put up 3 TDS. Nothing to hang your heads. All negative comments are just haters.

  25. Aaron December 21, 2019 8:33 pm

Also Matt Sykes went out after the only catch he made. Don’t know what happened to him. Botelho out really hurt the run d and pressure. Then Purcell went out. Aquinas is good but if they were ever play again same teams, with St. Louis healthy, its a different story. But Aquinas ain’t the #3 or even top team in the nation for nothing. Good game.

  26. Aaron December 21, 2019 8:36 pm

And all of you haters happy St. Louis lost shouldn’t be happy cause this loss only makes them a stronger team next year in Hawaii. De Laura is gone, but I promise this guy Graham is special too. Cal will not start Apo next year. It should be Graham.

  27. Vegas reporter December 21, 2019 8:38 pm

Botelho would of def made a difference. I was on the Aquinas sideline on the field. St Louis was actually more physical of a team tonight but played undisciplined and total lack of balance. The injuries started to take their toll. They couldn’t stop herbig in the first half and literally ran the opposite side of him the entire half. The players were all freaking out on how STL played physical in the first half with the coach saying that’s how they play ( poly style and dirty). St Louis needed to be fully staffed and Jayden needed to play a good game but they could of easily won tonight. Roman had about 2 TDS that Jayden couldn’t throw in range that he usually does. Good game tho to Aquinas, they had a fun little crowd

  28. MiliLouis December 21, 2019 8:40 pm

    @808rep
Yes, he would have made some plays, but not a big enough difference to give STL the W.
Look at how he plays against the local teams.
Don’t get me wrong, he’s a good player, but his style (unlike Herbig) is to over power you. No way he would have done that to #74 (the LSU commit).
That’s why Herbig is the D player of the year (more versatile and posed a bigger threat to deal with).

In hawaii maybe can hate against the champs, but let’s support the players and teams when they play against or in the mainland.

    #repda808

  29. Truthhurts December 21, 2019 8:47 pm

Exposed….. St Louis barely beat Punahou twice ,barely beat a Gorman team that lost to Liberty in the Nevada State final and finish outside the top 25 …..now the injury bug excuse is rolling in…. that’s why you recruit… next man up ….the last team to beat St Louis in Hawaii was kahuku High School…. that loss came to a Kahuku team that lost their starting quarterback for the season the first game of the season and three games later lost their starting running back for the season…. still beat St Louis in the final …..don’t give me that injury excuse …..cause thats all it is…..an excuse

  30. Aaron December 21, 2019 8:52 pm

    Dear Truthhurts,

Who is your favorite high school team?

  31. Hovah808 December 21, 2019 8:54 pm

Truthhurts… bro you’re a clown. Hating on high school kids. I think you need to check your statements. That bg game wasn’t close. Ask any unbiased person who saw that game. Not many teams can overcome that much injuries in the front seven not even a top team. So chill bro…. keep your hate for next season. You’re gonna need it

  32. Recruited not Rooted December 21, 2019 8:56 pm

@ Aaron Sykes broke his collarbone which really hurt the offense. Botello would’ve made a huge difference but I though Laakea Lewis played a helluva game and he’s just a sophomore buy you can’t replace JB, he’s the number 1 recruit in the state for a reason. I’m calling it’s Bianco next year but Apo and Graham will have something to say about it. Prayers and fast healing for those injured, feel terrible for Matt but he’ll be back stronger and better than ever. Proud of all you boys and way to represent. Safe travels home and Merry Christmas to all.

  33. Aaron December 21, 2019 9:09 pm

Truthhurts….where you at? You didn’t answer my question. I’m hurt now. I’m crying. Why so quiet now?

  34. Aaron December 21, 2019 9:15 pm

Mililouis….the reason why Herbig made a bigger impact on defense this year was because of teams doubling on Botelho on the other side. Not saying Herbig isnt a beast, but Botelhos effect is the same as Tuiteles impact last year. We didn’t hear his name too much on plays, but only people who know football would recognize the indirect impact tui and Botelho makes.

  35. Truthhurts December 21, 2019 9:18 pm

Hovah808…….is a St Louis alumni who never got recruited ,he had to pay out of pocket to go to school there ,that’s why he’s mad.

  36. Truthhurts December 21, 2019 9:28 pm

Why ask a question you already know the answer to ? but hey since you want to be vague ……my favorite school is a school that has had more players on your roster from our school district the last 30 years than St Louis has had players from their District…..fact

  37. Aaron December 21, 2019 9:38 pm

Butthurts…what school is that? Please! Be proud of your school..don’t be shame to say it! Cmon man all fun and games here!!!

  38. Aaron December 21, 2019 9:40 pm

Cmon Truthhurts I ain’t got nothing better to do than stay on this forum all night!!! I’m a loser just like you!!! See we have something in common bro! Or sista! Or whatever you are!

  39. Recruited not Rooted December 21, 2019 9:56 pm

@ Truthhurts. What district is STL in? I’m a little confused, isn’t Saint Louis a private school and private schools don’t have districts smh.

  40. 96730289 December 21, 2019 10:26 pm

@Truthhurts is a troll and he/she got everyone going good. We need to stop letting haters own these comment postings.

STA is a helluva team and we don’t know for a fact if they too had any injuries or players sitting out. STL competed for a half and the game played itself out.

It is disheartening to hear #15 being called out for his questionable play. I saw that against Kahuku a lot. He dove at knees head first when making tackles. I’m glad the refs penalized that sort of behavior. That doesn’t belong in a game.

  41. MiliLouis December 21, 2019 10:52 pm

    @Aaron
Which top teams doubled botelho like how teams changed their blocking schemes to double tuitele all game? And I wouldn’t count a few plays during a game being equal to tuitele getting doubled most of the games last year.

Like I previously stated, botelho is a good player, but I believe his style of play wouldn’t have been as effective against a good D1 bound RT.

Saint Louis is OVERRATED. Yes, 4x state champ, but to be honest, level of competition in Hawaii has been quite low especially this past year. Greatest Saint Louis team ever? Not even close. They had no run game. Secondary is suspect. Line on both sides of the ball was aight. It just happened that they played against really junk competition in Hawaii. Outside backers was solid. What really carried them though was their QB and receiver play, which was amazing.

Please stop making excuses about injuries and Botelho not playing, and the refs, and location of the game. As if Aquinas doesn’t have any injuries. The game was played at a neutral site, way closer to Hawaii then Florida. What, you guys not used to playing without your payroll refs? Cry bebe. Criticize other teams for saying the same thing but then you guys go and use the same excuse.

Aquinas had way less time to prepare for this game. Once they settled down, they were able to slow down Saint Louis’ passing attack and steadily separate from them. Honestly, Saint Louis shouldn’t have been ranked so high. OVERRATED.

  43. Too much hate December 22, 2019 1:32 am

Please explain to me why they would need an excuse for losing a game to the 3rd rank team in the nation? STA was the better team last night and that’s all. Chalk it up as a season ended. Great exposure for Hawaii. Lots of support made it out to the game. Where there is success, there will always be haters and it seems like HPW supports this hate. It truly amazes how grown adults can come on here and bash kids and athletic programs, especially when it’s Us vs. the Mainland. So shame that all the locals can’t come together for the keiki.

MASTERbater, you sound like a sore loser who could never beat Saint Louis in high school so you decide to hate on the boys, I’m a RRFL but support all 808 schools, you call them overrated but I think you masterbated

  45. CrusaderDad December 22, 2019 5:18 am

Great experience for the boys tonight. It is what it is, can’t win games against good/great teams when you make mistakes and unnecessary penalties. STA was a great team, but straight up…StL AND Punahou can beat them when we playing right.
Hawaii should be proud out boys (teams) can play with the mainland powers and Ben competitive.
Our boys already hungry for #5…

    Two Words:
    “HUMBLE PIE”

  47. 808rep December 22, 2019 7:58 am

    ???

Yup STA got humbled real quick!!! After their first touchdown they thought it was going to be a walk in the park.

    Masterfwam

Overated??? If the score was 35-7 then I’ll say they shouldn’t be in the top 25. Stl look like they were in offseason mode. Break was too long before the game. 2 much personal penities!!

  48. CrusaderDad December 22, 2019 8:29 am

@ Master – Level of Hawaii football quite low? Gorman low was runner up, Hawaii teams did well against mainland competition. I help with a small college with recruiting and am lucky to see the coaches that visit StL for recruiting: From these professionals – Hawaii football plays at a fairly high level – which isn’t proved by the amount of recruiting by Power 5 conferences…

Hello. STA played their STATE championship last week. That pit Florida 2 best teams. Ah, do you think they might have had some injuries? Of course. According to news/sports publications, many subs playing in STL vs STA game. On the other side, STL had 22 days to mend after “mercy rule” STATES. On Botelho, well, criminal conduct as an adult has its down falls. Hope he manages that.

    @Robocop December 21, 2019 7:21 pm
lol this guy doesn’t understand that mainland teams have a waaaaaaaaay bigger pool of players to pull from.

That’s the same s*** as STL? They have a WAY bigger pool of players than EVERY Hawaii team except Punahou. That explains it ALL!
