Saint Louis swept everything in 1991 — winning its sixth straight Prep Bowl and the top honors on the Honolulu Advertiser All-State team.
Offensive lineman Tasi Malepeai and quarterback Joel Lane were the lineman and back of the year, respectively. Cal Lee was the coach of the year.
The Crusaders did lose a game this year — 28-21 to Punahou — but came back to beat the Buffanblu 45-20 in the rematch.
The Star-Bulletin went with Waianae quarterback Glenn Freitas as its signal caller on its All-State first team. Leilehua sophomore running back Tito Rivera was the only underclassmen to make both All-State teams on offense. Damien junior linebacker Punahou Aina was the only underclassman on the Star-Bulletin defense while the Advertiser went with all seniors.
Kamehameha had three different players make the Advertiser first team on defense — DL Chris Loa, DB Ikaika Malloe and DB Shane Williams.
Kahuku offensive tackle Chris Naeole and Waipahu defensive back Falaniko Vitale are also listed.
