Alabama quarterback Tua Tagovailoa tied an SEC record accounting for seven touchdowns in a 59-31 win over Ole Miss on Saturday.
The Saint Louis alumnus continued his nearly flawless junior season with the Crimson Tide, finishing 26-for-36 for 418 yards and six touchdowns passing while also rushing for a score.
Tagovailoa broke Alabama’s school record on his 7-yard rushing TD accounting for his 81st TD in just 28 games, passing the mark set by A.J. McCarron, who played in 53 games with the Crimson Tide.
He now has 86 TD’s in his career.
In five games this season, Tagovailoa has thrown 23 TD passes without an interception and is completing 76.4 percent (113-for-148) of his passes. He’s also rushed for two touchdowns.
Tagovailoa’s six passing TD’s against the Rebels is also an Alabama record.
Other quarterbacks to account for seven touchdowns in an SEC game include Florida’s Tim Tebow and current Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott according to ESPN Stats and Info.
“I feel like it’s just the guys I’m surrounded with, that’s all I can say,” Tagovailoa said. “Those are the guys that make me look good.”
