The Baldwin baseball team is ranked No. 21 in the country in the latest USA Today Super 25 rankings released today.
The Bears (6-0) jumped two spots up from No. 23 where they debuted in the rankings last week.
Baldwin, which won the state title in 2016, has won its first six games by a combined score of 56-3. The Bears have been ranked No. 1 in the Honolulu Star-Advertiser Baseball Top 10 in each of the last two weeks.
Baldwin has a bye this week before playing a series against defending state champion Maui next week. The Sabers won the state championship last year beating Waiakea in an all-neighbor islands final. Three of the last six Division I state champions in baseball hail from the outer islands. Waiakea won the title in 2012.
Baldwin has played in the state final in three of the last eight seasons.
So over rated…we’ll see come State Tournament time.
Wow, this is very surprising. There might be 25 teams in California alone that could be listed in the national rankings.
Great for Baldwin though. Good for Hawaii baseball as well to get this kind of attention. Baldwin gotta live up to the hype now!
It’s not overrated
Hey MIL. Name the time and place
Allfourone, they playing who? Only Maui High…Kailua, can take them out!
Well I’m stoked Hawaii is representing on that list and my non bias side is also questioning the ranking… I think they’re just ranking them out of projections from each state. They didn’t even win last year to carry over a top 25 ranking. Unless they went to some major mainland tournament in like Texas or something. Do they have multiple guys throwing 90 or multiple players going to D1? Just wondering
All41, maybe U can answer that? Who does Baldwin have? I didn’t see studs!
