Leilehua’s Kelani Corbett is going for her fourth state championship in wrestling in the spring. Not many have done that. But Corbett, ranked No. 1 in the first Hawaii Prep World pound-for-pound rankings of the season, suffered a rare loss in high school competition Saturday in the 155-pound weight class. Hawaii wrestler Tiare Ikei will represent Team USA at the 2018 Summer Youth Olympic Games. The event is being held for the third time. This year, it’s Oct. 12-14 in Buenos Aires, Argentina. Tiare Ikei, a Hawaii Technology Academy student who wrestled last season for Kaiser, won the bronze medal in the 49kg United World Wrestling Cadet Women’s World Championships in Zagreb, Croatia, last week. Ikei pinned Munkhgerel Munkhbat of Mongolia in the first period of the bronze medal match.
