By Hawaii Prep World on October 22, 2016

Nerdpod: Receivers v4.0

By Paul Honda on October 20, 2016

NERDPOD: Receivers v4.0 Hawaii Prep World’s Paul Honda breaks down some of the best pass catchers in the state. The regular season has drawn its curtain across the islands, but I’ll be adding more pass catchers to this list until the playoffs and state tourney are done, and maybe past that, too. This week, five additions. Numbers are nice, but seeing how they reflect a player’s season is usually intriguing. Even players who don’t have statistics that scratch the ceiling […]

What a game! In case you missed it, Waianae held off Mililani 36-33 in the OIA quarterfinals at John Kauinana Stadium on Saturday night. Game of the year in this book. The Seariders bulldozed to a 23-point, 29-6 halftime lead before Mililani buckled down on defense in the second half and came up with crucial stops to halt the Seariders in their tracks. As a result, the Trojans’ offense got more time on the field and started working its magic. […]

So Personal: Waianae’s puzzling prolification

By Paul Honda on October 8, 2016

Walter Young couldn’t quite explain it. Nobody probably could. On a night when Waianae’s might proved overwhelming for Kailua in a 41-12 victory, there is more than one facet, certainly, to the 200 yards in penalties the Seariders incurred. It was unlike anything his Seariders had done this season. Young, the Seariders’ head coach, was puzzled and, just a wee bit, perhaps, in disbelief. “I’ve got to watch the tape,” Young said moments after the teams shook hands at midfield. […]
