Defense, senior leadership and mature underclassmen are all key ingredients for No. 2-ranked Punahou, which outlasted No. 5 Campbell 31-21 on Saturday night. Senior running back Vincent Terrell rushed for 189 yards and two touchdowns, sophomore defensive end Tevarua Tafiti returned a fumble 70 yards for a TD, and freshman quarterback John-Keawe Sagapolutele added another learning-on-the-job experience.

Kailua drew first blood, but Damien rallied behind sophomore quarterback Logan Lacio, reliable wide receiver Jarvis Natividad and running back Amo Sulu for a 28-12 win at Aloha Stadium on Friday night. Sulu rushed for 184 yards and a TD on 29 carries for Damien, which remains one game behind ‘Iolani in the ILH Division I standings.

They call him the Sand Beast for a reason. Nathaniel Jones runs the sand relentlessly. He ran them before UCLA offered him a scholarship last year as a sophomore. He runs them continuously when he can now. One year after tearing an ACL — during St. John Bosco’s first game of 2019 — Jones shows no ill effects. It was a David-versus-Goliath scenario for the Mililani Trojans, and even with a 42-10 loss to No. 2 ranked St. John Bosco, there’s a silver lining. Mililani coach Rod York and linebacker Bam Amina chatted with Hawaii Prep World after the loss. The Trojans stood their ground in the trenches, allowing just 118 rushing yards on 30 carries by the powerful Braves.
