Time, love and work ethic made all the difference for young Faaope Laloulu. Now a 6-foot-7, 390-pound Farrington senior, Laloulu trodded along as a youngster playing for the Central Razorbacks. “I wasn’t that good growing up,” he said after signing his letter of intent with Oregon. Moanalua’s Rashod Tanner to play in Blue-Grey All-American Bowl

Moanalua senior defensive back Rashod Tanner will play in the Blue-Grey All-American Bowl, according to Sean Ceglinsky, the game’s chief operations officer. The 5-foot-9 Tanner was part of a Na Menehune team that finished 10-2 and won the OIA Division I championship this fall. Moanalua, however, dropped a 35-9 decision to ‘Iolani in the first round of the D-I state tournament. Elena Oglivie honored as Under Armour All-American

Tuesday morning, Seto Hall, college counseling assembly. Students were treated to a surprise when senior classmate Elena Oglivie was recognized for earning Under Armour All-American volleyball honors. The four-time Star-Advertiser All-State Fab 15 and two-time player of the year selection was presented her All-American jersey. Oglivie, who will play at Stanford next season, will travel to Florida to play in the Dec. 31 match.

But down 17-3 against ‘Iolani, the Vikings rallied with 17 unanswered points, including Keanu Keolanui‘s 55-yard field goal as time expired. “I never look at the numbers,” the senior said of his walk onto the field. “That makes me nervous.”
