Chenoa Frederick continues to build up her resume in Big Island Interscholastic Association track and field. The Kamehameha-Hawaii junior won four individual events at the BIIF championships Saturday and placed second in another. Frederick won the 100-meter dash (12.73 seconds, with a qualifying time of 12.57), high jump (5 feet, 1 inch), long jump (16-10.50) and triple jump (38.4.25), and she was the runner-up in the 200 (26.16). Moanalua junior Rashod Tanner won three events at the OIA track and field championships last weekend. But it was only part of a whirlwind and sad yet uplifting week that took him to Temecula, Calif., and back in between Thursday’s trials and Saturday night’s finals. When people think boys hurdles statewide this year, they think of Rey Cadiz of Baldwin. But Kamehameha’s Tanner Moku is turning heads and dropping jaws, too.
