On this date in 1983, Koldene Walsh broke or tied records in the 100, 200 and long jump to lead Leilehua to the state track and field title. He also led his 400 relay team to a victory. The result didn’t surprise anyone, helping the Mules overcome Punahou and Radford. Punahou won the girls competition.

On this day in 1966, Kamehameha was primed to show its stuff in track and field. There were no records broken in the trials, but the Warriors qualified full contingent. They beat Duncan MacDonald‘s Kailua squad by 18 points the next day to take the team crown.
