Mao, Zhi double up in ILH swimming

Pac-Five swimmers M.J. Mao and Albert Zhi both won two races in an ILH meet at Iolani on Friday. Mao won the 50 free with a time of 21.81 and later took the 100 back in 56.09 seconds. Zhi was victorious in the 200 free in 1:44.83 and the 100 free in 46.87. They were the only boys to double up. Çagla Brennan keeps life simple: work hard, play hard, enjoy and celebrate the effort. It just so happens that she has the drive of a champion. Brennan is a defending state champion in the 500-meter freestyle who is a big spark for the ‘Iolani Raiders. Lileikis leads Hawaii qualifiers in Olympic Trials

Recent Punahou graduate ’Aukai Lileikis owns the highest seed among swimmers with Hawaii ties who qualified for the U.S. Olympic Team Trials, which open Sunday in Omaha, Neb. According to the psych sheet released by USA Swimming on Wednesday, Lileikis is seeded 35th out of 115 qualifiers in the Men’s 200-meter Freestyle with a seed time of 1 minute, 49.90 seconds. Here we go with the finals of the OC-16/HHSAA State Swimming and Diving Championships from KS-Hawaii. The big news in the first six events is Punahou senior Aukai Lileikis claiming gold in the 200 freestyle. Lileikis, who broke the state record by .27 seconds in the prelims on Friday, shaved another 53 seconds from his mark in the final, dropping from 1:35.35 to 1:34.82.
