It was a final week to remember for Leilehua ace Kamryn Kamakaiwi. She won two games at the state tourney, but also injured her right ACL in the state final. Coaches and media voted the senior Star-Advertiser All-State Pitcher of the Year.

It was a breakout year for two programs this year, with Leilehua and St. Francis taking state titles. Kamryn Kamakaiwi was the first pitcher of the year for the Mules, and is joined by five players on the All-state teams and four others earning honorable mention. With the Star-Advertiser’s softball all-state team coming out Sunday, here is a look at the All-State teams from 2010-present. Although there are still dominant pitchers, this decade is marked by sluggers giving them a challenge. State champion Leilehua fundraiser Sunday

The recently-crowned Leilehua Mules are on a quest for the ring. The HHSAA Division I softball state champions will host a fundraiser on Sunday, 5 p.m., at Dot’s Restaurant in Wahiawa. The team will have T-shirts and autographed photos available for donations. The goal is to raise enough funds for state-championship rings, Mules coach Wendell Au said. With the Star-Advertiser’s softball all-state team coming out Sunday, here is a look at the All-State teams from 2000-09. The decade was still dominated by great pitchers, but the best might have been Kailua’s Courtney Kessell, who reigned as the player of the year in 2003 and again in 2005, the only pitcher who was honored multiple times. With the Star-Advertiser’s softball all-state team coming out Sunday, here is a look at the All-State teams from 1990-99. The decade had its fair share of stars early on, but nobody compared to Pomai Kapule of Kailua in the middle of the decade. Kapule is the only girl to be named player of the year three straight times by a newspaper, earning the recognition from the Honolulu Advertiser from 1995-97 before making way for Iolani’s Mitzi Ing.
