Kamehameha senior defensive end Jonah Welch has narrowed his college choice to five schools. Welch, who is 6-foot-2 and 230 pounds and was invited to the Polynesian Bowl last month, holds offers from seven schools. Mauga says he’s “fully committed” to USC

Four months ago, Waianae linebacker Kana’i Mauga, the No. 1-rated recruit in the class of 2018 from Hawaii, announced he was committing to Southern California but “leaving his options open.” Monday night, the 6-foot-2, 215-pound senior wrote on Twitter that those options include only one school now — the Trojans. Fotu commits to Saint Mary’s

Former Kahuku star Daniel Fotu has given an oral commitment to play basketball at Saint Mary’s, a source from Hawaii confirmed today. Last winter, Fotu, a 6-foot-7 forward who lives in New Zealand, enrolled at Kahuku after the start of basketball season, spent the three months of basketball season in Hawaii and led the Red Raiders to the Division I state championship before moving back to New Zealand. St. Francis sophomore offensive lineman Ope Laloulu landed his first scholarship offer from Oregon today, Saints coach Kip Akana said. St. Francis junior Bubba Akana, who plays football, basketball and baseball for the Saints, has committed to play baseball for Hawaii beginning in 2020. Kamehameha-Hawaii sophomore Nani Spaar has committed to play volleyball for Temple University, according to Pilipa‘a Volleyball Club Coach Chris Leonard. Over the summer, the 6-foot outside hitter played with Pilipa‘a at the USA Volleyball National Junior Championships, then trained at the USA Volleyball Select A2 Camp in Colorado Springs, Colo. Former Kamehameha (Kapalama) standout Mia Heirakuji is a junior libero at Temple. Former Moanalua outside hitter Gabby Matautia also played at Temple.

Hawaii offers Campbell’s Adkins-Kupukaa

Campbell sophomore Poki’i Adkins-Kupukaa, a 6-foot, 185-pound wide receiver and defensive back, landed his first scholarship offer today from Hawaii. Cover2’s Rob DeMello first reported the offer for Adkins-Kupukaa, who set a new Campbell single-game receiving record with 204 yards in a 26-20 win over Farrington 10 days ago.
