St. Francis sophomore offensive lineman Ope Laloulu landed his first scholarship offer from Oregon today, Saints coach Kip Akana said. Laloulu, the starting left tackle for the Saints (5-2, 3-1 ILH Division II), is 6-foot-7 and 340 pounds. “He can run too,” Akana said. “He doesn’t fit the bill of big for nothing, I can tell you that.” Laloulu is the 11th known sophomore currently in Hawaii with at least one scholarship offer. Kamehameha-Hawaii sophomore Nani Spaar has committed to play volleyball for Temple University, according to Pilipa‘a Volleyball Club Coach Chris Leonard. Over the summer, the 6-foot outside hitter played with Pilipa‘a at the USA Volleyball National Junior Championships, then trained at the USA Volleyball Select A2 Camp in Colorado Springs, Colo. Former Kamehameha (Kapalama) standout Mia Heirakuji is a junior libero at Temple. Former Moanalua outside hitter Gabby Matautia also played at Temple.
