The Pony Express lives. Between Christian Payton and Michael Hayslett, the Radford Rams have a 1-2 combo at running back that can literally carry the offense. Payton rushed for 147 yards and four touchdowns, while Hayslett rumbled for 123 yards and two more TDs in Radford’s 62-20 victory over McKinley on Saturday night at Skippa Diaz Stadium. Kaimuki forfeits football opener against Radford

The football season opener between Kaimuki and Radford has been forfeited by Kaimuki. The game had been scheduled for Saturday at Farrington’s Skippa Diaz Stadium. OIA football coordinator Harold Tanaka confirmed that a low number of eligible players is the reason for the forfeiture. On this date in 2005, Alex Daniels had the biggest day for a running back in Radford history, but he still needed his defense’s help to keep the Rams unbeaten. Daniels ran for 263 yards and three touchdowns to lead Radford to a 35-13 victory over Moanalua at John Velasco Stadium.
