Former Punahou all-state safety Brian Suite has died from a rare cancer. Suite, 28, was a three-sport athlete and played football at Utah State. While he was running for Punahou, the Buffanblu broke the 4×100 medley mark. Suite was a 2009 Star-Advertiser first-team safety. “We’re just heartbroken. Sad. Notre Dame changed the mood for Kia, offering a football scholarship to the 6-foot-2, 210-pound linebacker on Tuesday night. “Every offer is different for me in what they bring to the table, but shoot, it’s Notre […]

Interim football head coach Leonard Lau raring to go at Punahou

By Paul Honda on August 5, 2020

The strangest year of high school athletics could not be more of a mystery for Punahou’s interim head football coach, Leonard Lau. The longtime assistant was the offensive coordinator for the past two seasons as Punahou challenged for the Interscholastic League of Honolulu title. The Buffanblu were 10-2 last year, losing only to national powerhouse Saint Louis. When the school removed veteran coach and assistant athletic director Kale Ane, at least for the time being, during its investigation into alleged […]
