Nanakuli finally returned to its renovated home field after a long stretch on the road, and the Golden Hawks hope to get another win in their new digs when they host dangerous Kaimuki in a playoff game. The work on the track around Nanakuli’s football field is complete and the Golden Hawks will play their final two regular-season games at home, Oahu Interscholastic Association athletic director Harold Tanaka said Tuesday morning. Nanakuli’s home games are an Oahu Interscholastic Association Division II first-place test against Radford (7-0, 6-0) on Friday and against Kalani (3-4, 3-3) on Oct. 10. The defending Oahu Interscholastic Association Division II football champion Nanakuli Golden Hawks will be without a home field for the rest of the season. The original plan was to have the Golden Hawks (4-1, 4-0) play their final two games of the season at home, but work being done on the track surrounding the field won’t be completed in time. Despite a week of heavy rain around the islands, Waialua coach Lincoln Barit has probably seen his share of sunshine. Barit spent the week preparing his Bulldogs for a clash with reigning OIA White champion Nanakuli. Punahou all-state offensive lineman Semisi Uluave signed a letter of intent with the University of California at Berkeley this morning at the Pacific Islands Athletic Alliance ceremony. Uluave, a 6-foot-6, 315-pound senior, opted for Cal over several other programs, including Oregon. “I felt like Cal is the best fit for me, and it’s the No. 1 public university in the country, in the world,” he said.
