Damien-Moanalua game moved to Radford

Friday’s Damien vs. Moanalua OIA-ILH interleague football game has been moved to the Radford High field, according to OIA football coordinator Harold Tanaka. Moanalua has been having an issue with its stadium lights, Tanaka said. In addition, the McKinley vs. Moanalua JV game, which starts at 5 p.m., has also been moved to Radford. The OIA Division I showdown between Moanalua and No. 9-ranked Leilehua, two football teams unbeaten in league play, promised to be an offensive explosion. Instead, this turned into a battle in the trenches, the lowest-scoring game for the visiting Na Menehune and the host Mules. Led by defensive lineman Tupu Alualu, Moanalua limited one of the state’s top running backs, James McGary, to 12 yards on eight carries. Moanalua prevailed 23-10 to seize sole possession of first place.
