By Nick Abramo on July 10, 2019

15TH IN A SERIES This summer, head coaches from all 28 Oahu high school varsity football teams are being asked to recount their football playing days. One coach interviewed for this multi-part series pointed out what he thinks may be the value of this endeavor: “A lot of times, you only hear about coaches when they’re getting released or are having a special season. By Jerry Campany on October 23, 2018

What was shaping up to be the greatest season ever for Moanalua Na Menehune came to a crashing halt against Castle on Saturday night, but the performances will make sure this team is remembered for a long time. Na Menehune went undefeated through the regular season and finished with eight wins, more than any since Arnold Martinez took the squad to a 10-2 season in 2009 in Division II. The team was dramatically improved on both sides of the ball, […]

VIDEO: Castle shocks No. 7 Moanalua in OIA D-I semifinal

By Paul Honda on October 21, 2018

The contrast in styles led to an incredible turnaround by the Castle Knights. After falling to Moanalua 40-36 in a game in August, the Knights revised their game plan, went to a smashmouth offensive attack and stymied Moanalua’s pass-heavy blueprint for a 28-14 upset win in the OIA Division I semifinals at John Kauinana Stadium. Senituli Punivai rushed for 231 yards and two TDs as Castle (5-6) advanced to the title game on Friday at Aloha Stadium against Waipahu.

Castle shows Hao to beat No. 7 Moanalua

By Nick Abramo on October 21, 2018

Castle’s game plan was evident from the first moments of Saturday night’s 28-14 upset of No. 7 Moanalua in the OIA Division I semifinals. They made it clear they were going to be coming straight at Na Menehune, trying to make it a game of power instead of the finesse that Moanalua has been winning with. It worked brilliantly. Moanalua fumbled the opening kickoff and the Knights’ Justice Ching was on it like a fly on food. That led to […]

Kealohi rolls right, throws a lateral to lineman Noah Enrico, but before big 50 can make a […]
