Vavae Malepeai is becoming one of the most heavily recruited island running backs in recent memory. Vanderbilt made the Mililani junior a football scholarship offer on Sunday, becoming the seventh school to declare its explicit interest in the 6-foot, 200-pound all-state performer. Pacific Islands Athletic Alliance shared the news on its Facebook page. Malepeai’s other offers are from Colorado, Washington, Cal, Hawaii, Utah State and Washington State. Mililani running back Vavae Malepeai received a scholarship offer from Nevada, according to the Pacific Islands Athletic Alliance’s Facebook page. Malepeai, a Honolulu Star-Advertiser first-team selection two years in a row, will be a senior next year for the defending Division I state champion Trojans. He’s previously received offers from Colorado, Washington, Cal, Hawaii, Utah State and Washington State.

Just one day after receiving a scholarship offer from Utah State, Vavae Malepeai has received one from Washington State.
