Absolutely the best ticket in town for upcoming high school football won’t be a ticket at all. On Aug. 8, defending state champion Mililani hosts ILH power Saint Louis for a 7 p.m. matchup at John Kauinana Stadium. Mililani running back Vavae Malepeai committed to Oregon during his weekend trip to Eugene, Ore., according to multiple reports online. Mililani running back Vavae Malepeai told OregonLive.com that he is “50-50” on committing to Oregon. Malepeai, who helped the Trojans to the Division I state championship a year ago, is scheduled to visit the Oregon campus this weekend. The 6-foot, 190-pound senior-to-be is a Honolulu Star-Advertiser two-time first-team All-State selection. Mililani running back Vavae Malepeai received his 18th FBS scholarship offer today: Utah. The 6-foot, 200-pound junior is heralded by his coaches for a dedicated work ethic. He last received offers on May 18 and 19 from USC and Oregon, respectively. Unlike many of his peers, Malepeai doesn’t post much information about his offers.
