Former Mililani OL headed to Kansas

Former Mililani offensive lineman Andru Tovi, who made second team All-State as a senior in 2014, will play at Kansas this upcoming season. Tovi, who is 6-foot-3 and 310 pounds, originally committed to Utah State out of high school before playing two seasons at Pima Community College. Head coach Rod York loves to take his boys to the mainland and he’s doing it again this year. The Mililani football team will travel to Northern California to play one of the top teams there — Clayton Valley Charter High, which is located in the town of Concord — on Sept. 1. Frigid is exactly what it is in Kansas today. Temperatures with a high of 29 on Monday couldn’t put a damper on a tremendous season for defensive lineman Kahewai Kaaiawaawa. The former Mililani Trojan started for Garden City Community College (Kan.), which went 11-0 and reached the National Junior College Athletic Association championship game, beating No. 2 Arizona Western 25-22 on Saturday.
