The showdown between No. 3 Mililani and No. 6 Kamehameha lived up to all expectations. Though it was a shootout at times — 304 yards and four TD passes by Mililani quarterback Dillon Gabriel, Kamehameha wide receiver Skyler Ramos with seven receptions for 141 yards and three total TDs — the Trojans came up with the defensive play of the game to end Kamehameha’s last-minute drive.

Opening night at Mililani began with a somber farewell. Before taking the field for a nonleague game with Kailua, the Trojans observed a moment of silence in honor of freshman Kekiai Hett, a junior varsity defensive lineman who died suddenly on Friday.
