VIDEO: Mililani-Kamehameha game highlights

By Paul Honda on August 20, 2018

The showdown between No. 3 Mililani and No. 6 Kamehameha lived up to all expectations. Though it was a shootout at times — 304 yards and four TD passes by Mililani quarterback Dillon Gabriel, Kamehameha wide receiver Skyler Ramos with seven receptions for 141 yards and three total TDs — the Trojans came up with the defensive play of the game to end Kamehameha’s last-minute drive.

Q&A: Mililani QB Dillon Gabriel

By Paul Honda on August 19, 2018

On a wet night at John Kauinana Stadium, Dillon Gabriel is stoked about Mililani’s 31-24 thriller of a win over Kamehameha. He’s less than thrilled about his own performance. Gabriel was crucial, once again, with 304 passing yards and four touchdown passes. Maybe it was the wet surface and football that had him 18-for-34, but he didn’t turn the ball over. All Gabriel cares about, though, is the team win. Mililani, ranked No. 3 in the Star-Advertiser Football Top 10, […]

No. 3 Trojans overcome adversity to win thriller

By Paul Honda on August 19, 2018

One by one, the Trojans of Mililani went down. With powerful running back Kilifi Malepeai already out with an injury, they entered Saturday night’s epic battle with Kamehameha at less than full strength. But shortly into the game, defensive tackle/running back Mykah Tuiolemotu suffered a leg injury. Later, it was receiver/kick returner Reichel Vegas who got hurt. Then receiver/punter Cy Kuboyama-Hayashi limped off the field. Linebacker Darius Muasau had returned from an ankle injury in time for the game. Mililani […]

Mililani’s Tuiolemotu does everything for Trojans

By Nick Abramo on August 11, 2018

Rod York said a lot in one sentence: “I’m glad he’s on our side.” The Mililani coach was referring to Mykah Tuiolemotu, who is up to the same old tricks — and then some — this season. The defensive tackle was a beast for the Trojans during last year’s run to the OIA finals and state semifinals. In a 57-15 Open Division victory over No. 10 Farrington on Saturday night, Tuiolemotu had a sack and he forced a fumble. But […]

Mililani honors fallen freshman

By Jason Kaneshiro on August 4, 2018

Opening night at Mililani began with a somber farewell. Before taking the field for a nonleague game with Kailua, the Trojans observed a moment of silence in honor of freshman Kekiai Hett, a junior varsity defensive lineman who died suddenly on Friday. Hett’s No. 99 jersey hung on the back of the Mililani bench alongside a sign bearing his name while his junior varsity teammates posted a 50-18 win. The Trojans JV stayed on the track while the varsity warmed […]
