They are two legitimate Division I contenders for the OIA and state championship — two fired-up teams that were ready to show each other who’s better. VIDEO: Moanalua improves to 4-0 with win over Leilehua

The OIA Division I showdown between Moanalua and No. 9-ranked Leilehua, two football teams unbeaten in league play, promised to be an offensive explosion. Instead, this turned into a battle in the trenches, the lowest-scoring game for the visiting Na Menehune and the host Mules. Led by defensive lineman Tupu Alualu, Moanalua limited one of the state’s top running backs, James McGary, to 12 yards on eight carries. Moanalua prevailed 23-10 to seize sole possession of first place.
