Leilehua came to play despite 24-0 loss

Even though the final score was 24-0, this was no walkover. No. 2 Kahuku, the defending Oahu Interscholastic Association champion, was clinging to a 10-point lead well into the fourth quarter before finishing strong to beat Leilehua. Two-time defending OIA Division I champion Kahuku opens its 2017 season at home on the North Shore against Leilehua, which barely held on to defeat St. Francis, 13-9, last Saturday at Hugh Yoshida Stadium. Tokuda takes over as Leilehua athletic director

Nolan Tokuda was a huge part of the Leilehua football renaissance in the early part of the 2000s, and now he is the school’s athletic director. As the football coach, Tokuda brought the Mules to the Division I state championship game in 2004. 2007 and 2008, and that included a 20-16 victory over Saint Louis for the ’07 title. Kurisu vows to keep Leilehua moving forward

Mark Kurisu has lots of experience as Leilehua’s defensive coordinator and so the Mules probably won’t skip a beat now that he is the new head coach.
