Kapolei will be without its top two quarterbacks for the 2018 season, according to multiple sources. The Hurricanes’ Kaniala Kalaola, who will be a senior this fall, has transferred to Campbell. He split starting duties with Lonenoa Faoa, who transferred in to Kapolei from Bishop Gorman (Las Vegas) late last August. Faoa, who will be a junior, has transferred to Liberty (Henderson, Nev.). Coach Darren Hernandez is bringing his Kapolei Hurricanes to the mainland for a football game for the first time this fall. The Hurricanes will be going to Downey, Calif., to play against the Downey High Vikings on Aug. 31. The trip will also include stops at Universal Studios and Six Flags Magic Mountain as well as campus tours of USC and UCLA. Kapolei senior Dylan Toilolo, who played on both offense and defense for the Hurricanes this season, has been invited to the 2018 Polynesian Bowl. Toilolo, a 5-foot-11, 200-pound safety who has also played linebacker and running back, was an All-State first team selection as a junior linebacker at Saint Louis.
