The Kapolei Hurricanes had a huge challenge against Punahou and its potent passing attack in the opening round of the First Hawaiian Bank/HHSAA Football State Championships Open Division. Kapolei came up with five sacks, all by its defensive line, in a 33-21 upset victory on Saturday night at Aloha Stadium. Defensive end Myron Tagovailoa-Amosa chatted after the biggest win in the program’s history.

USC offers another DL from Hawaii

Southern Cal appears to be making the rounds in Hawaii this week. A day after offering a scholarship to Kahuku DL Aliki Vimahi, USC extended an offer to Kapolei DL Myron Tagovailoa-Amosa on Wednesday morning. Hurricanes coach Darren Hernandez confirmed the news via text. It’s the 11th scholarship offer for Tagovailoa-Amosa, who is 6-foot-4 and 260 pounds.
