Kamehameha’s chances to win the Interscholastic League of Honolulu football title took a huge blow Saturday when sophomore quarterback Thomas Yam‘s season ended with a broken collarbone suffered in the fourth quarter against Saint Louis in the league opener for both teams at Aloha Stadium. Kamehameha quarterback Thomas Yam is out for the season with a broken collarbone, according to numerous sources close to Warriors football. Yam, a 6-foot-1, 190-pound sophomore, was having a brilliant season. Through four games, he was 58-for-93 and nine touchdowns passing with only three interceptions for the fifth-ranked Warriors (3-1). He also had rushed for 230 yards and four TDs. It was this regular season game last season between Saint Louis and Kamehameha that quarterback Tua Tagovailoa introduced himself to the Hawaii high school football scene. Kamehameha senior quarterback Fatu Sua-Godinet has a knee strain and will be out of action for two weeks, head coach Doug Cosbie told the Honolulu Star-Advertiser on Thursday. Sua-Godinet hurt the knee during Kamehameha’s season-opening 33-13 win at Waianae last Friday. He won’t play on Saturday at 4:30 p.m. against visiting Baldwin of the Maui Interscholastic League at Kamehameha’s Kunuiakea Stadium, and will likely miss the Aug. 21 game at Hilo on the Big Island.
