The Ephraim Tuliloa Experience

By Paul Honda on October 9, 2015

When Punahou rallied from a 16-point deficit to beat Kamehameha last night, 26-23, it was a bit surreal. For Punahou, it was 3 hours of pure passing ecstacy. Ephraim Tuliloa was rarely a mad bomber, but he was certainly precise as he engineered a 41-for-52, 442-yard night to break his own single-game school record. For Kamehameha, it was that queasy feeling of losing a lead again, unable to maintain and manufacture a win against a Top 2 team. Title hopes […]

Who’s Your Backup (QB)? Young is determined

By Paul Honda on October 6, 2015

In last week’s 51-36 loss to Saint Louis, former third-string QB Justice Young had early success before the tough Crusaders defense slowed his momentum. Coming off the heels of a school-record 374 passing yards against ‘Iolani, Young threw two early TD passes to Kumoku Noa and tallied 381 passing yards against Saint Louis, but finished with four interceptions. Perhaps more importantly, Young walked away more determined than ever to help his team. “I’m disappointed. I feel like let down my […]

Noa’s radiance shows in Kamehameha’s loss

By Nick Abramo on October 1, 2015

Kumoku Noa is not being recruited by colleges. “No.” That was his answer, when asked near the South end zone at Aloha Stadium shortly after No. 5 Kamehameha’s 51-36 loss to No. 2 Saint Louis on Thursday night at Aloha Stadium. The 6-foot, 180-pound senior wide receiver had just caught nine passes for 195 yards and two touchdowns in the loss. It’s possible that colleges don’t know what kind of talent Noa has. He did it against one of the […]

LIVE BLOG: Saint Louis 51, Kamehameha 36

By Billy Hull on October 1, 2015

The second round of the ILH season gets underway tonight with a critical game for both No. 2 Saint Louis and No. 5 Kamehameha. The loser isn’t eliminated from the ILH race but let’s just put it this way: the loser is in real trouble. Saint Louis won the first meeting 31-27 but was shut out in the second half by the Warriors, who lost sophomore QB Thomas Yam late in the fourth quarter on a controversial hit by Saint […]

Young sets Kamehameha passing mark

By Jason Kaneshiro on September 26, 2015

Both of Kamehameha’s true home games this season were highlighted by record-breaking passing performances. Back on Aug. 15, Thomas Yam broke a 13-year-old school record with 323 yards in a win over Baldwin in the Warriors’ first game at Kunuiakea Field. That mark lasted 41 days before being surpassed by Justice Young’s 374 yards in Friday’s 63-21 win over ‘Iolani on homecoming/senior night on the Kapalama campus. Young, the third quarterback to start for the Warriors this season, completed 23 […]
