Abu Maafala told Hawaii Prep World on Monday that he is a candidate for the Kamehameha football head coaching job. Kamehameha’s Alema Kapoi was leaning toward committing to Navy when visits to West Point and the Air Force suddenly opened his recruitment up. Over the weekend, Navy closed the door on it. Two Interscholastic League of Honolulu football players have committed to Air Force. Punahou safety Justin Matias gave his oral commitment to the Falcons, Buffanblu head coach Kale Ane confirmed Tuesday. Matias made his commitment Jan. 16. Kamehameha linebacker Tainoa Foster, who was named to the Honolulu Star-Advertiser all-state first team last month, committed to Fresno State on Saturday.
