No. 5 Kamehameha falls just short

By Brian McInnis on September 23, 2017

The degree of difficulty was high, but it was Kamehameha’s game for the taking as the clock ticked down on Friday night at Aloha Stadium. It just wasn’t to be in a 21-17 loss to No. 4 Punahou, the Warriors’ second defeat to the Buffanblu in three weeks. The Warriors had taken a three-point third-quarter lead on a field goal, a clear sign the Buffanblu’s nine-game streak in the series was in jeopardy. But the Buffs took the lead back […]

Longest rivalry in the nation continues tonight

By Jerry Campany on September 9, 2017

The Punahou-Kamehameha football rivalry has had more games than any two teams in the nation, and they get after it again tonight. Throw rankings out for ILH opener

By Paul Honda on September 1, 2017

Wins and losses are all that really matter to title contenders in the ILH, and if the names are removed, is there really much difference between the state’s No. 1 team (and defending champion) and the squad ranked No. 5? Team A Wins: Farrington (34-15), at Lahainaluna (34-10), Carson (33-10). Team B Wins: at Waianae (49-7), Baldwin (61-0). Which team is which? Team A is Kamehameha, currently 3-0 and gaining momentum with each rousing victory. The struggles of a young […]

Cordeiro steps out of the shadows

By Paul Honda on September 1, 2017

One thing Crusaders’ quarterback Chevan Cordeiro does exceedingly well is pick his spots and gravitate to open space when passing routes are siphoned off. This is the rest of tremendous preparation, and he clearly learned his trade by working next to Tua Tagovailoa every day. Cordeiro is deceptively fast, able to chew off gains of 5 to 10 yards consistently. Kamehameha’s response tonight when the two teams meet in the ILH opener for both teams may be to tag a […]
