The scoreboard is one thing. The life experience is another. The Kamehameha football team went to Carson, Calif., last week and scored a 17-6 victory over the Carson Colts on Friday. The showdown between No. 3 Mililani and No. 6 Kamehameha lived up to all expectations. Though it was a shootout at times — 304 yards and four TD passes by Mililani quarterback Dillon Gabriel, Kamehameha wide receiver Skyler Ramos with seven receptions for 141 yards and three total TDs — the Trojans came up with the defensive play of the game to end Kamehameha’s last-minute drive.

Hoku Arias was all over the place Friday night. He was part of a gnarly defense for the Kamehameha Warriors in a grueling, 21-7 victory over Kapolei in a historic OIA-ILH alliance opener at Aloha Stadium. Defense led the way for the Kamehameha Warriors, who had five first-half sacks against Kapolei in a 21-7 victory on Friday night at Aloha Stadium. Hoku Arias, their stellar linebacker, had three of those sacks and added a 2-yard touchdown in the fourth quarter to break a 7-all stalemate. It was the Open Division opener for both teams.
