7:16 p.m. A busted punt — too much penetration forced the punter to run on fourth and about 30 — led to a quick score by Kalani to open the game. Noah Brum’s lob to Trevor Yamashita in the end zone gave the visiting Falcons a 7-0 lead early. Then came a shanked punt by Kalaheo and Kalani is driving again. Call it the Carney Curse. When Kalaheo traveled to Kaiser to play Kalani in 2010, Mustangs running back Jesse Carney ran over the Falcons for 379 yards on 15 carries in a 59-22 blowout. Fans took time out of their day back then to call the Star-Advertiser to complain about the Mustangs running it up on the OIA’s perennial whipping boys.
