By Christian Shimabuku on August 20, 2016

Entering Friday night’s contest at Kailua, both Kalaheo and McKinley were 0-1 in OIA Division II play and 0-2 overall in 2016. Kalaheo was 2-7 in 2015, with one of the wins a forfeit over Anuenue, which no longer has a varsity program. On the other side, McKinley came in losers of 18 straight. Something had to give. What resulted was what Kalaheo head coach Darrell Poole called a “total team effort,” as the Mustangs (1-2, 1-1) grinded out a […]

Second-year Tigers coach Sam Cantiberos is trying to crack the code. He’s got one line down: numbers are up significantly for a program that forfeited its last two games of the ’15 […]

LIVE BLOG: Kalani 28, Kalaheo 6, F

By Billy Hull on August 21, 2015

An 0-2 start for either Kalani or Kalaheo in OIA Division-II play would make reaching the playoffs an extremely challenging task. The Falcons have made it each of the past two seasons but have started 0-2 overall for only the second time dating back to 2010. Their two losses are by a total of seven points. Kalaheo has lost its last five games in league play but scored two touchdowns in the second half last week against defending OIA D-II […]

Playmakers Shine for Nanakuli, Kalaheo

By Kyle Galdeira on August 16, 2015

While both Nanakuli and Kalaheo suffered lackluster non-conference losses to open the 2015 campaign, the Golden Hawks and Mustangs proved Saturday night that watching their playmakers in action are worth the price of admission. The Golden Hawks relied on a fluid offense and tenacious “D” en route to a 28-14 victory over Kalaheo in the Oahu Interscholastic Association Division II season opener for both squads at Kailua High School. Nanakuli’s studs stepped up first, including junior quarterback Nainoa Banks, who […]
