GAME NIGHT 9/2: Kaiser/Waianae

By Hawaii Prep World on September 2, 2016

Three of the top five teams in the state are in action tonight with a six-game slate on Oahu. It didn’t stop Waianae from winning two games against Kaiser, but the Seariders must be happy not to have to worry about Jensen McDaniel. The Kaiser running back rushed for 159 and 147 yards in back-to-back games against the Seariders in 2014 and ’15. No. 5 Waianae is coming off a humbling 28-0 loss to No. 1 Kahuku and should be […]

Kaufusi another all-purpose threat for Cougars

By Jason Kaneshiro on August 27, 2016

Considering his workload over the previous three hours, Andrew Kaufusi looked remarkably fresh as he headed toward the bus awaiting the Kaiser football team just outside John E. Velasco Stadium on Friday night. Kaufusi didn’t have much downtime in his return from an injury while contributing in all three phases in the Cougars’ 34-7 OIA Blue win over Radford. He scored the game’s first touchdown on a 65-yard reception when Kaiser executed a double pass with Lincoln Lima catching a […]

GAME NIGHT 8/13: Kaiser/Mililani

By Hawaii Prep World on August 13, 2016

Six games are on tap Saturday night on Oahu while both St. Francis and Kamehameha hit the neighbor islands for nonleague contests. The defending OIA runner-up Mililani Trojans got in a quarter of work last week against Saint Louis before the lights went out. They hope the problem is fixed as they return to John Kauinana Stadium to host the Kaiser Cougars, who opened the season with a 28-21 win over Roosevelt to give head coach Arnold Martinez a win […]

Q&A: New Kaiser football coach Arnold Martinez

By Paul Honda on June 20, 2016

As of Sunday, Arnold Martinez is officially the new head coach of the Kaiser High School football program. Martinez is no stranger to the Oahu Interscholastic Association. He coached 11 seasons at Moanalua, lifting the program to new heights. When he arrived there, only two players had their paperwork ready on the first day of offseason workouts. Na Menehune suited up 22 varsity players in their first season under Martinez. By the time he left, there were 140 players combined […]
