Kaiser falls short despite ground production

Led by another monster night from Jensen McDaniel, Kaiser’s ground game continued to churn out impressive numbers on Friday night. A week after rushing for 432 yards in a preseason loss to Kapolei, the Cougars’ backs burst through holes opened by the offensive line to  cover 437 on the ground against Aiea. The Kaiser Cougars roll into Kapolei ranked eighth by the Star-Adveriser, but the Hurricanes could have something to say about it. A quick look at the two rosters shows Kaiser with 26 available players for tonight’s game while Kapolei is over 60. This is the first meeting between the schools since 2003. Kaiser loses quarterback to Farrington

Junior Justin Uahinui, who was set to be the starting quarterback for Kaiser this season, has transferred to Farrington according to Cougars head coach Cameron Higgins. Higgins said before Monday’s practice that he found out “a couple of days ago right before camp” of Uahinui’s decision to transfer from other players on the team. Kaiser offensive lineman Michael Eletise wrapped up the recruiting process 11 days before the start of the season, narrowing 40+ FBS offers down to the University of Arizona, where he committed on Monday. After months of being a prized prospect in the eyes of universities from Hawaii to the East Coast, Michael Eletise of Kaiser High School has narrowed his list of 41 BCS offers and one Division II offer to 10 schools. So much for a quiet Sunday morning. Alabama broke the calm of an early, sunny Honolulu morning by making a football scholarship offer to Kaiser junior Michael Eletise. Alabama is now the 41st BCS program to make a scholarship promise to the 6-foot-4, 305-pound offensive lineman. It took some time, but Louisiana State University has come around on Kaiser offensive lineman Michael Eletise. The Tigers made the 6-foot-4, 305-pound junior a scholarship offer on Saturday.
