It appears the indecision is done and Kahuku two-way standout Salanoa-Alo Wily will be signing with UNLV on Wednesday morning, according to a trusted source close to OIA football. Another Kahuku star, linebacker Soli Afalava, will be joining him with the Rebels, the source said Tuesday. Both had previously committed to Hawaii. ‘Manti Te’o has not forgetten where he came from. Te‘o, the San Diego Chargers star, presented a check for $10,000 to the Kahuku football team on Saturday. Manti is a class act,” Kahuku coach Lee Leslie about Te’o’s generous gift. “He is a gentleman and a solid role model.” Te’o gave $5,000 of his own money and a $5,000 match from the NFL. Kahuku’s Fitisemanu down to 2 schools

Kahuku two-way football standout Pena Fitisemanu narrowed his choices of colleges to two, Red Raiders coach Lee Leslie said Monday. Fitisemanu will grayshirt next season and then go on a two-year church mission. The defensive lineman/running back will go to either Brigham Young or Utah. It’s likely that Fitisemanu will hold off on his final decision until Wednesday at a school assembly ceremony where Red Raider athletes will sign their letters of intent.


Wily-Matagi flips from Utah to Oregon State

Kahuku senior Tuli Wily-Matagi announced via Twitter on Wednesday that he has changed his college commitment and will instead attend Oregon State over Utah. “I’ve decided to flip my commitment over to Oregon State,” he wrote on Twitter. “Want to thank everyone who supported me through this decision. #GoBeavs” Wily-Matagi threw for 1,242 yards and 10 touchdowns and ran for 277 yards and four scores last season, and he led Kahuku to a 9-3 record and an OIA Red division […]

Leslie’s family votes to keep coach at Kahuku

Lee Leslie will return to Kahuku to coach football for a second season. Leslie, who spent the holidays with his family in Idaho, is flying back to Hawaii on Sunday to resume his job as a seventh-grade character education teacher and gear up for the Red Raiders’ 2015 season next fall. Kahuku quarterback Tuli Wily-Matagi is preparing himself for life after high school, but it sounds like he may be considering a different destination. The 6-foot-3, 235-pound senior is an early commit to Utah. In the fall, Wily-Matagi said Utah was looking at him as a tight end. The computer is fickle, to say the least. Mililani slipped four notches to No. 21 in the latest CBS MaxPreps Top 100 Computer Football Rankings released on Monday. The Trojans (13-0) won the state football championship on Nov. 21. In the same rankings, Punahou (8-1) dropped nine spots to No. 51.
