Kahuku senior defensive end Bradlee Anae did not offer the information, but it turns out that he received a football scholarship offer from BYU a while back. It just so happened that at the Red Raiders’ practice Thursday, teammate Keala Santiago walked by. Film sports photography — not the digital variety – is alive and well, and the Kahuku football team is the subject of a presentation to be given by North Shore photographer Jonathan Canlas. UH offers Kahuku’s Santiago

All-State safety Keala Santiago received a scholarship offer from the University of Hawaii on Sunday afternoon. The 6-foot, 180-pound junior had just completed the GPA Maximum Exposure Camp on the campus of UH when Coach Norm Chow made the offer. “He talked about the opportunity to play for UH,” Santiago texted on Monday morning. Beatty to play for U.S. men’s football team

Former Kahuku and Colorado linebacker B.J. Beatty has been selected to play on the U.S. men’s national team assembled by USA Football. The team, composed of 45 U.S. football players ages 20 and up, will compete in the 2015 International Federation of American Football World Championship, a seven-nation tournament to be held July 9-18 in Canton, Ohio. It’s been less than 24 hours since Oregon State offered a football scholarship to eighth grader Tausili Fiatoa. The Kahuku Intermediate School student is the first athlete in recent memory — going back to former Saint Louis offensive lineman Solomon Koehler — to receive an offer at such a young age. Tausili Fiatoa, an eighth grader who plays for the Laie Park Red Raiders in the Hawaii State Jr. Prep Sports football league, received a football scholarship offer from Oregon State on Thursday. Tata picks Hao, Welch for Kahuku football staff

New Kahuku football coach Vavae Tata has his new staff in place, he confirmed Monday. Former Saint Louis and University of Hawaii quarterback John Hao is the offensive coordinator. Gerald Welch, another former Crusader and Rainbow Warrior, will coach the wide receivers. Tata, a former UCLA defensive end, will double up as the defensive coordinator.
