By Christian Shimabuku on September 10, 2016

The time has come. Kahuku’s only nonconference game of the season will be played in Las Vegas against consensus No. 1 Bishop Gorman a week from today. The Red Raiders (5-0, 5-0 OIA Blue) have yet to be challenged thus far, winning by an average of 46.4 points. They have not allowed a point for 14 straight quarters. Enter Bishop Gorman. The Gaels (3-0) have won all three games against out-of-state competition, including a 44-14 road win at Cedar Hill […]

Nihipali-Botelho stokes Kahuku’s fire

By Nick Abramo on September 3, 2016

Stokes Nihipali-Botelho has been making big plays in the limelight for the top-ranked Kahuku Red Raiders for two seasons now. It’s a wonder opposing quarterbacks even throw in his direction. The defensive back, it seems, comes up with at least one interception per game. Sometimes two. He had two picks in the Red Raiders’ 44-0 home victory over Campbell on Friday night, and he also had a ton of return yardage. And, let’s not forget, he kicked all six of […]

Kahuku’s allotment of Gorman tickets went fast

By Nick Abramo on September 2, 2016

There are advantages to sitting in the Kahuku press box watching the JV game waiting for the varsity game against Campbell to start. You can ask the announcer and spotter how the Kahuku vs. Bishop Gorman ticket sales went a few weeks. What they said was not a surprise. “Two-thousand tickets gone in one hour.” That fact was confirmed a few minutes later by Red Raiders athletic director Gillian Yamagata. Kahuku (3-0, 3-0 OIA Blue), the defending Division I state […]
