Hawaii’s best teams looking for a challenge

The top three teams in the Honolulu Star-Advertiser Top 10 are also in the MaxPreps national Top 150 after the latest rankings were released Monday. All three — Saint Louis (No. 21), Punahou (No. 68) and Kahuku (No. 136) have a chance to rise — especially since they are all playing national competition this year. Kahuku junior offensive lineman Inoke “Enokk” Vimahi was named to the MaxPreps Preseason Junior All-American first team. The announcement on MaxPreps.com lists Vimahi (6-5, 270). The Red Raiders are loaded with some of the top underclassmen in the country and one of the best is the 4-star Vimahi. After listing both Saint Louis and Kahuku in its list of top 100 teams in the nation for the upcoming 2017 season, Max Preps released its preseason top 25 on Monday with one of the two schools making the cut.
