Kaiser’s Nam invited to LPGA qualifying

Kaiser golfer Malia Nam will represent Hawaii in qualifying for the LPGA’s first major tournament of the season. Nam, the 2015 OIA champion, will compete with 39 of the world’s best female junior golfers for a spot in the ANA Inspiration beginning March 27 at Mission Hills Country Club in California. “It is such an honor to be selected from Honolulu and playing amongst top junior golfers from all over the world,” Nam said in a release. “Qualifying for the […]


ILH boys tame Hawaii Prince

The number of rounds in the 60s in ILH competition doubled on Wednesday, when two boys took advantage of the conditions in the league’s fourth tournament. Punahou senior Andrew Chin shot his second sub-70 round in three starts with a 67 at Hawaii Prince on Wednesday, the lowest score in the ILH this year. Chin opened the season with a 69 at Mililani. Kalani’s Manta collects first win of golf season

With Kaiser’s Malia Nam not in the field, Miki Manta of Kalani earned her first win of the OIA golf season on Monday at Hoakalei Golf Course. Manta, the reigning OIA champion, shot a 76 on the par-72 layout to beat the field by seven strokes. There will be no wire-to-wire dominance in ILH golf this year. Iolani’s Kengo Aoshima fired a 68 at Olomana to take an ILH tournament on friday, beating Mid-Pacific senior Zack Kaneshiro by three shots. Kaneshiro had the edge on Aoshima in the first two tournaments of the year, winning at Mililani with a 73 and at Leilehua with a 68.
