Antonio, Katahira rise in BIIF golf

Kamehameha-Hawaii’s Shantel Antonio and Waiakea’s Shon Katahira won Thursday’s BIIF golf tournament at the Waikoloa Village Golf Club. Katahira took medalist honors in the boys competition witha 2-over 74, one shot ahead of Kamehameha-Hawaii’s Preston Ching. Antonio shot an 8-over 80 on the girls side to beat second-place Kaelyn Uchida of Waiakea by two shots. Waiakea won the boys and girls team titles. Kalani’s Miki Manta shot a 1-over 73 to win the OIA golf tournament No. 7 at Makalena Golf Course on Monday. Manta, who also won previously this season at West Loch and Ala Wai, finished three shots ahead of Falcons teammate Kaia Takaki. Nam wins her second OIA golf tourney of season

Kaiser’s Malia Nam won her second event of the season, capturing OIA golf tournament No. 6 at Olomana Golf Course on Saturday with a 1-over 73. Nam also won recently at Pearl Country Club, and on Saturday, she finished ahead of second-place Mari Nishiura of Mililani by five shots. Kalani’s Miki Manta shot a 1-over 73 at West Loch Golf Course on Wednesday to beat teammate Kaia Takaki by three strokes in the OIA golf tournament No. 5. Kaiser’s Malia Nam and Moanalua’s Kyosuke Hara were the girls and boys winners of the OIA golf tournament No. 4 at Pearl Country Club on Monday. Moanalua’a Shawn Lu carded a 9-under 63 to edge teammate Kenneth Won by one stroke at OIA golf tournament No. 3 at Ala Wai Golf Course on Tuesday. Mililani’s Mari Nishiura won the OIA’s second girls golf tournament of the season on Monday at Mililani Golf Club. Nishiura fired an even-par 72 to capture the girls tournament by four shots over Kaiser’s Malia Nam. On the boys side, Kalani’s Robert Choy and Moanalua’s Shawn Lu tied for medalist honors with even-par 72s. Moanalua’s Kyosuke Hara was a stroke back at 73. Moanalua’s Kenneth Won and McKinley’s Jodi Torricer started the OIA golf season strong on Monday at Leilehua Golf Course. Won carded a 1-over 73 to win the league’s first boys tournament of the season. He finished one stroke ahead of Na Menehune teammate Joseph Vallespin.
