It was a joyous occasion for ‘Iolani when it clinched a girls volleyball state-tournament berth at midseason. The Raiders, who went on to take the Interscholastic League of Honolulu Division I championship, hadn’t been to the states since 2007. Iolani’s Bailey Choy and Kainoa Obrey fell short of their goal of a state title, but they were reminded today that an ILH title was nothing to shrug off. Choy was named the ILH player of the year in division I and Obrey was selected coach of the year in voting by the league’s coaches.
