Enterprise Hall Pass: Chanelle Molina

‘Iolani boys up to No. 2; Punahou boys, girls drop

‘Iolani jumped two spots to No. 2 in the Honolulu Star-Advertiser boys basketball Top 10 this week. The Raiders have been as high as No. 1, but are now one spot behind the Kaiser Cougars. Saint Louis, which suffered a 73-63 loss to Kamehameha on Friday, dropped one spot to No. 2. Kamehameha rose two spots to No. 4, and Punahou fell three spaces to No. 6. Kahuku interim coach Tachibana is reapplying

Kahuku has put the word out that it is looking for applicants for its head girls volleyball coaching job. It might just be a formality. The interim head coach from last year, Mounia Tachibana, told Hawaii Prep World on Friday that she will be reapplying. Because she was an interim coach, Kahuku is following protocol by posting the job opening. It’s possible Tachibana will be hired again. ‘Iolani’s Choy earns Gatorade POY honor

‘Iolani’s Bailey Choy is the Gatorade Hawaii Volleyball Player of the Year, the Gatorade Company announced Tuesday. The award recognizes athletic excellence, academic achievement and exemplary character on and off the field. The 5-foot-9 senior setter finished the season with 574 assists, 197 digs and 15 aces in leading the Raiders to the Division I state final. Blake, Kamehameha relied on end game

Head coach Chris Blake hit a milestone on Halloween, when his Kamehameha girls volleyball team held off ‘Iolani for the Division I state championship. Blake (2005-10, ’13, ’15) passed Dan Kitashima, one of his mentors, with his eighth state title. Kitashima compiled seven state victories (1991-92, 1994-95, 1997-99) in his time as the Warriors’ coach.
