The second day of the Ann Kang Invitational began this morning with one of the biggest matches so far. Undefeated teams in Pool A — Punahou and Long Beach Poly — met in the Lower Gym with the Buffanblu notching an impressive 25-15, 28-26 win over the Jackrabbits. Punahou went on to sweep Mid-Pacific and King Kekaulike and has yet to drop a set heading into the final day on Saturday. Some of the nation’s top girls volleyball programs will be in town for the 29th annual Ann Kang Volleyball Invitational at ‘Iolani this week. The headliner is 2016 Southern California regional champion Santa Margarita, which will be looking for a better showing in the preseason tournament this year. The USAV Aloha Region High Performance team leaves today to play in the USA Volleyball High Performance Championships in Fort Lauderdale, Fla. The tourney will be on July 18-22. Head coach John Ing is assisted by Warren Ando and Lee Lamb. The program has played in every HP championship since 2003.
