For years, Hawaii Baptist’s girls volleyball program filled the alpha-dog role atop Division II. Dynasty, yes. There is, however, room for two. Le Jardin sent a reminder of this on Tuesday night with a 19-25, 25-17, 25-22 victory at Charles B. Wang Gymnasium. Moanalua up to No. 3; Punahou falls to 5 in Top 10

Undefeated Moanalua broke through the ILH threesome that had been at the top of every Honolulu Star-Advertiser Girls Volleyball Top 10 this year, earning the No. 3 spot in the latest rankings released today. Punahou dropped to a season-low fifth after losing to both Maryknoll and ‘Iolani last week. Update 5 p.m. Kamehameha outside hitter Kili Robins and middle Braelyn Akana were selected to the All-Tournament team. Mater Dei narrowly beat Kamehameha in the third-place match of the Gold championship bracket 26-24, 25-23. “I’m proud of the team and staff. PrepVolleyball.com tweeted that it was a near-upset, but Kamehameha escaped with a 21-25, 25-17, 25-22 victory over Sacred Heart (Louisville, Kent.) in pool play of the Durango Fall Classic in Las Vegas this afternoon. Kamehameha is ranked No. 1 in the Star-Advertiser Girls Volleyball Top 10. Playing at Palo Verde High School gym, the Warriors then defeated Central (Fresno, Calif.) 22-25, 25-23, 25-22 to improve their pool record to 2-0.
